AKC Norwegian Elkhound Puppy in Estacada, Oregon

Born May 31, xxxx. UDT puppy shots and wormings. Their healthy, friendly, playful and happy. Elkhounds are great, loving family pets. Elkhounds are very affectionate and loyal companions, eager to be by your side whenever possible and can be protective of family or a friend to all. They are great with kids and respect other species (cats specifically) often giving them the upper hand (or should I say paw). Not known to attack, but will draw attention to their cornered prize until humans come to take control. They are curious, yet smart dogs, problem solvers with what seems to be logical or common sense thinking. They can be perceived as stubborn minded, but really just need to be shown WHY certain behavior is expected by consistent training and desire to please their owner. They do tend to be possessive of their "people" but can learn to share with early exposure and training.
They are medium sized, their backs are not taller than about knee high which is not too overwhelming for children they approach to be pet. The males get to be about 50 lbs at healthy maturity and females just slightly smaller. Grooming isn't very difficult either, just an occasional brushing is all they need. They have a dual layered coat so they are comfortable in both cold and warm weather making wonderful outdoor pets. They do shed according to the weather and have "dew fur" that comes off seasonally, but their outer coat respells dirt, never gets matted and therefore deters odor so bathing is rarely necessary.
